Is this too much for childcare?

In Australia i pay $86 a day for one child and $92 a day for another child.

In IL daycare is no less than $1000 a month

That is actually pretty cheap. Around here (Delco Pa) I was quoted 3 days for $750 a month at a Day care center

$150 a week including a Saturday is cheap… most daycares charge $200 or more a week.

$600. A month how many kids that could be a weeks pay with some people.

The most important question is that do you think paying $600 a month for daycare worth the price? Can you afford it? Unfortunately we can’t tell you what to do.

That’s cheap. Where I live the cheapest for day care is $300 a week

Most licensed in on are 35-50 a day depending on childs age.

We pay $50/day for our 13 month olds baby sitter who is a SAHM of 2

Call a licensed daycare provider to see what they charge

I was a personal nanny and made $15/hr for watching one kid :woman_shrugging:

The daycare here is around 1,200$/month…

Depending on where you live, that’s normal. I paid $125 a week for before and after care for my kid at school age. An hr in the AM and 4 1/2 after

I was quoted almost 300 dollars a week for child care for my 2 year old

With my 18 month old and now my 7 year old that’s home because of virtual learning we pay 1000 a month. It’s a lot but between my husband and it makes more sense for me to work.

I live in central PA, for an unlicensed in home daycare here it’s about $15-20 a day per child. (not including food) Licensed in home daycares are $30-$45 a day. (Includes food) And most of the daycare centers run $160 a week for infants and $110 for 2 years and up with before and after school care at $75 a week. This includes formula/baby food/breakfast/lunch & PM snack.

Depends. Does she truly NEED it and you’re willing?? Cause if not that is about the same amount you’d spend at a daycare. At least around me daycares is usually 200-300 a week. I have a babysitter for my son who watches him for 8 hours and my sons father started paying her 40 a day on his own accord when she agreed to 25 because it’s only 2 days out of the week. If it’s 5 days out of the week then 25-30 a day is typical at least around me

Our daycare rate is $300 per week (3 year old) M-F 6:30am-4:30pm. $50 a day sounds like a sweet deal to me.

I payed last year about 650 a month Monday-Friday 7:00-5:00

for a non acredited at home babysitter yes that sounds high sounds like shes black mailinng u in a way to keep watching your child

I’m in nw Minnesota and pay 115 (23 @day)a week from 7:15a-5:15 m-f at a licensed daycare.

I do in home childcare and only charge between 25/30 a day for care. Im a SAHM as well. I don’t think its fair for you to have to pay more to watch your son/daughter. If she really needed the extra money she would advertise herself and watch another child to help make her bills work. Just my opinion though lol.

In my area that is pretty high that said you like her. But right now she is basically telling you she only half in it. I have a feeling she will be leaving the first chance she gets that puts her where she wants to be. Personally I do not pay people to live where they live when they tell me they want to move because sooner or later they are going to find a reason that what your paying is not enough. If she is not happy where she is at more money is not going to change that. Personally as soon as she said that to me I would be looking for a new place because I can not afford to have someone up and abandon me last minute. You need to look out for family and ensure your needs are met which may mean looking for a new caregiver.

I use to pay $1400 every 2 weeks but they were a licensed daycare with amazing lessons for the kids. They had my daughter doing sign language by the age of 2. She is almost 3 now and I have been a stay at home mom for about 6 months and she has remembered everything she was taught and we built upon it. Staying home is definitely an amazing option if you are able to and saves a TON of money

What is more important to you? Money or your child? Consistency in a child’s life can sometimes outweigh everything! You just don’t know what kind of new person is caring for your child!! But hey, that’s just my opinion!!

$50 a day for 3 days is cheap. I’m in south Carolina.

I’mma just throw this out there… I paid more for the person I trusted and knew would provide for my child the way I would. The moment money got tight and I had to go to daycares my daughter was sexually assaulted at 11 months…

You wouldnt like it in australia. Sorry but i wouldnt watch your child for 30 a day. Here you pay 60 a day or more for something like this

I pay $90 a month in Texas. 6am-5:30pm. M-F. I love my daycare. I know the staff and he gets along great with his teachers and peers. If you want her specifically then you pay the price. We don’t do it by hours here. We go by day/week depending what daycare/babysitter.

Most times the reason some parents get nannies is because they work yes, some wants because they cant undertake the stress if childrearing,if it’s not easy on you said parents can you imagine how it is for the person taking care of them?I say pay that woman $20 an hour

It seems like she keeps raising the price. It shouldn’t be over double the original price in a year.

$50 per day is pretty normal in upstate ny. The daycare we used also provided food and snacks.

What is minimum wage in your state? Sounds like you’re getting a fucking bargain…

Uhm I’m in MA & the cheapest I could find was an official in home daycare (her house not mine) for $45 a day. Now with the pandemic she’s $55 a day. $50 is honestly a good price. There’s a company out here that has someone go to your house for a solid $29 an hour for 1-3 kids.

But honestly how selfish of you. She‘a basically telling you she can’t afford to live here anymore & you would be the only reason she stays. So ya, either pay her what she needs to stay so she can help YOU or get a new daycare.

Well I guess it also depends on what you can afford.vi would always pay more to have my child being watched privately instead of day care. The one on one is probably best!

you people have it easy…in nj we pay morage rates for childcare…1500- 2500 a month

CA here. If you trust her pay her. I pay 480 a month for one child to go to “preschool” it’s like a day care but they do circle time and it’s from 745 and I pick up at 445 three days a week. My other kid dose after school child care at 45 a day. They have ton of kids there. I would much rather pay that and have someone have just my kids but that would cost me 2k a month here to do that. If you can afford it then pay it. If you can find someone else. However did she lose income somehow because it makes no sense how all of a sudden she could no longer afford her rent unless you pay her that much and 5 days a week. That’s a jump, no way her rent was raised that much.

Rosie Perales you see these prices for one child

I pay 40 a day at an official daycare in az so 200 a week.

My mom does daycare from home in Massachusetts. It’s an expensive state but she charges more than $50 a day try double that and she’s on the cheap side. Daycare isn’t cheap so it doesn’t sound unreasonable at all. Whether you’re able to afford it is another question. If you can’t just be honest and see if you can find what you can afford.

Pay the extra $10 overall to keep your child somewhere you trust.

I pay $600 a month to a licensed in home daycare. I pay that much because I trust her more than I do others around here. If you can afford it and you know you can trust her, do it. I have found others that range from 25-50 a day, but I stick with who I know and can trust. (Im in michigan)

Daycare here in Texas costs as much as a mortgage per month. 1200/month for a good daycare. Which is minimum wage at 40hrs/week. You’re paying her less than minimum wage, so I wouldn’t be complaining.

Girl. That’s cheap prices right there. In AR they’re high on childcare costs.

I pay $704 a month for 2 days and that’s at an official daycare and I live in Florida. I would be okay with $50 for 3 days

Wow, she almost work for free eh, teenagers earn $10-15 babysitting for couple hours, this poor woman is there all day for $30 bucks, wow

Daycare in Canada is between 800-1200 a month

Seems like a steal. When my daughter was in daycare, I was paying $290 a week (for 5 days), and still had to pay, even if she didn’t go in

No, in Massachusetts it’s $90 a day. $450 PER WEEK to send one child to daycare 5 days a week. Consider yourself lucky

I pay $40 a day for my 4 year old and my 1 year old. That’s $200 a week for 2 kids. That’s cheap. If I put my 4 year old in daycare I’d pay $200 a week just for him.

I watch a child and she pays me 15 dollars an hour. You are getting off cheap. And the mom is here working from home while I watch him at her home.

Day care where I am costs anywhere from 280-360 a week depending where the child goes

For a licensed daycare in my area is around 200 - 250 a week

I pay 1000 a month for 5 days a week 2 kids

For my kids to go to day care it’s $130 a day each child

Should be 15-20$ an hour, she’s undercharging you. She should up her price, consider yourself lucky and hope she doesn’t realize it soon.

She’s UNDERCHARGING you!!! Be thankful and pay her. Especially if you like her and honestly trust her with you kid.

I think it depends on how many hours the kids are with her. I personally have a similar situation. A sahm watches my youngest. She originally asked for 100 per week when I worked 30 hours but then I started working 5 to 6 days a week for a full 8.5 hrs and I offered to pay 30 a day and I provide all snacks, food, drinks for my kid. It seems like a lot of money but honestly 1, shes a fantastic parent to begin with so I know hes in good hands, 2 I like the 1 on 1 time he gets with a sahm. At daycare hes not going to get the attention she provides. 3, a really good daycare in texas is anywhere between 250 a week and up.
Also, we have an agreement that if hes only with her for under 5 hours I only pay 15. Anything over 5 hrs is 30. So I think it’s really dependent on the ages & how long she watches them. If you break it down to what she makes hourly, it’s a super cheap price.

I had so many caregivers. If you can afford it, fine. But you are the Mom, decide what is best for you and your child. Being a parent, being on call 24/7 is not easy.

Pay her $50 a day if you have the money, that’s actually very little for child care. If you like the lady and your kid is happy and feels good with her it is worth it. I am a nanny and I get paid $23 an hour, $50 a day is not much.

In the world we live in, $50/day to ensure your child is safe is absolutely worth it. If she provides food as well, then she isn’t making much at all after taxes.

If you feel comfortable with your provider and she takes great care of your child, it’s worth the money. Truly wonderful, caring providers that you can trust are worth their weight in gold. Think of it like your house. You pay your house payment/rent each month. Even if you go on vacation for a week or are out of town for a few days.

I would stay with who you and your child are comfortable with and liked. Knowing your child is safe is worth the money.

50 a day is not expensive at all someone is watching your child all day long and is responsible for their well being
That’s what I pay here in Canada and in my mind if you can’t afford daycare then don’t have children

Child care where I am from is $800 a month on the cheap side. The nice places where you know your child is well cared for can be up to $2200 a month. That’s why we decided not to have another baby. Too expensive for child care

I pay $40 per day for my son at his in home daycare. It’s difficult to find people we trust with our babies so when we do it’s priceless.

I like to look it as paying $40 a day as the daycare would charge you and then a $10 tip for being so great with your Son  something about thinking this way makes things feel better.

Dont pay more to pay her bills you’re not her mother. She is providing you a service, and if she cant pay her bills its not your fault. You have your own bills and child to pay for, let alone her bills!

How the heck you supposed to love paying that much a week in childcare? That’s insane. I always wanted to move to Australia. Never been there, I’m in Canada. But I always wanted to live there. But child care that expensive we would never be able to live.
You must have a decent paying job!! Lol

Yes leave her. You can have a license daycare with Learning center for that much.

In Oklahoma child care is$1000 and around $500 if you need assistance. But these are daycares that provide lunches diapers and snacks. They also have them do school work to help get them ready for preK. Does this sitter use her own money for their lunches and outings? Does she provide school related activities to help your child learn?

If she struggling to pay rent she probably needs a different job than in home childcare

It honestly all depends on hours I think babysitters should get paid $10 per hour on a minimum basis. So if she’s watching your son 5 or more hours a day that’s definitely a good price.

As your child gets older the pricing goes down here in Houston texas childcare for 12 hours on a 5 day per week basis is around 80 plus for kids over 2 children under 2 need more care so the prices are higher I would suggest maybe look around, you also need to provide for your own family.

Childcare is a touchy subject with me. I would pay the price she is asking just to know my little ones are safe while I was at work.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:#safe.

I’m 56 and would love to Nanny. Instead I work in a factory 12 hrs. a day. Nanny’s Don’t have insurance, retirement plus 20 dollars a day, equals 2 dollars a hr.

Where I live $50 a day PER CHILD sounds about right. Daycares here on average charge $250 - $300 a week per kid.

I was paying 125$ a week for one child at a day care m-f 6:30-6 and since it was thru a school it was no biggie if I dropped him off on the days I was off so I could do other stuff

It seems to me that’s way to high. I worked in child care for over forty years. Find someone else. You are working to pay her rent.

Northwest Iowa here. $25/day… More with each child of course. I think during “normal” times, it was going to run me $375-$425 per week… Its crazy. Right now I only have 1 in daycare and she’s only charging me $100 per week. But how do you determine how much is too much for someone to watch your babies…?

We pay $110 a week. (5 days) Whether we go or not. If we don’t go a single day it’s still $110 a week. You are paying for the spot. Not the actual time you are there. $30 per day seems reasonable if she is doing meals as well and you know your LO is well taken care of.

I’m in Australia and pay $90 a day before rebates. My daughter is at a small centre out in the sticks a bit but I think that’s pretty average for the area

Holy crap to me personally (a sham that babysits) that’s crazy!!! Where I live I charge $50 A WEEK for 1 kid, $60 for 2 kids!!! And I watch 5 children (7 total with my two children)

In California I had to pay $1200 a month for my daughter and $1500 for my son… if you like her just pay the extra $10 and keep her

I have been watching the same kids for a year then one little boy for 5 years and only charge $20 a day

My father in law pays $200 a week for child care and it’s his own daughter watching his youngest

I charge 55.00 a week flat fee weather I have them 1 Day or 5 days. I know how hard it is to find affordable day care. My way of giving back.

50 per day approx. Where I live in Canada. But that is for a registered daycare.

Wow, that’s a shame $50 a day? That’s it? In Vegas they charge $10-$14 an hour. How would a daycare worker survive off that?

My daughter is 14 and when she was little I paid $150/week

This is a dumb question to post on a social media page that reaches all over the globe. Childcare expenses are based on wages and cost of living. This would differ all over significantly!

She’s still going to move… right now she’s being manipulative and you are allowing her to do so. Any other job would have told her to move and they’ll find someone else… honestly it’s not about the price for me, it’s about the games she’s playing… if you are broke here with bad spending habits you will be broke when you move… or see if you can find another child to offset your price…

In Jasper Texas in home day-care is $100 a week…

You get what u pay for! Look at it like the hour would u work for what $6 an hour? I wouldn’t flip burgers for that much less watch a kid and give them Tlc just sayin!!

NO, not crazy, I live in VT and I get $22 an hr as a provider for 1 child. But then childcare here in VT are VERY hard to find. There is a massive shortage. But for that daily rate get a contract.

Omg I had to pay $80 a day when mine were little. I would’ve liked to have paid 50!

50 /day. Assume you work 8 hours, plus pick up and drop off. The care giver has your child 9 hours. That’s $5.56/hr , less than minimum wage to ensure the wellbeing of your child.

Child care gets cheaper as child gets older
