My son has a diaper rash due to his antibiotic: What can I do?

I used Bag Balm. It’s in a green tin. Worked wonders on my children.

Could be A yeast infection as well!! Air it out as much as possible.

A&D or Lotrimin foot cream.

Yogurt, bath, air for a bit, pat dry excess water, Desitin or Aquaphor or both. Change diapers and reapply often. Gone in less than 24 hours most of the time. Both my twins keep going through the same with ear infections and antibiotics. Normal side effect.

I’d air dry multiple times a Day…it’ll help

And baths instead of wiping his butt. Also let him air out as much as possible

When the rashes get bad I just put them in a bath everytime

Use wet washcloth instead of wipes and let his bottom dry completely before putting diaper back on. Mix anti fungal cream, triple antibiotic ointment and desitin and apply to bottom every diaper change. If it doesn’t clear up in a few days call you physician and have them call in an antibiotic cream…he most likely has a yeast infection from the antibiotic he was on. Also warm soaks in the tub help with soreness. I literally just went through this with my daughter.

Metainium works really well!!!

Oatmeal bath! Put regular oatmeal in a sock and throw it in the tub while bathing. Rub it on the bottom a little too! Will clear right up!

Cornstarch or athletic cream

Gynalotrimin cream, and diaperless when possible. My son had the same problem. You can also ask the pediatrician for nystatin powder, which is an antifungal and helps tremendously.

Baby pro biotics when taking antibiotics

It’s a yeast infection not a rash. Call your doctor and get meds for it or it will only get worse no matter what you do.

Call his dr they can give him a steroid for that diaper rash that is most likely a yeast infection from the medicines

Did you call his doctor and let them know that the antibiotic medicine is giving him the diarrhea he maybe Allergic to the one he is getting it happened to my son

We always use extra strength diaper rash cream and corn starch. Works wonders

Have you talked to a doctor about a probiotic to help stop the diarrhea? Treating the rash is just treating the effect try and treat the cause.

In the meantime Buttpaste always healed my babies bad rashes.

I bathed my kids in instead of wiping, then a gentle dab to dry them, then air dry for a while before applying cream. X

Let him air out if possible. Also try oatmeal baths!

Butt paste! Oatmeal bath n air dry! And id call dr about it aswell.

Corn starch. I put that on my son it worked wonders

Are you giving him a probiotic with it? Most all antibiotics will kill both the good and the bad bacteria and cause diarrhea. Please seek professional medical help to correct the issue.

Hand-wash clean baby wipes under the tap and put them in a bag to use instead of perfumed wipes. And let the air get to his butt, leave his nappy off. Use a little Vaseline for when his nappy is on.

Bourdeauxs butt paste the red tube works 10 times better then Destin!!! Also the doctor can call in a pink butt paste perscriptions thats even better. But it might be a yeast infection so i would get it checked for sure if the bourdeauxs doesnt start to help within 2 diaper changes.

A&D ointment, sleeping diaperless, and probiotics.
My daughter had 11 ear infections before we put tubes in, we’re pro’s with antibiotic side effects.

We use A&D. Clears em up overnight :two_hearts:

Diaper rash - Calmoseptine ointment
CVS, ask for from pharmacy, behind counter

Oatmeal bath, bourdeauxs butt paste. Try to avoids any solids with acid ( mainly fruits or diluted fruit juices) yogurt is great or any kind of probiotic

Pure Cornstarch. Or I had my son’s drs give me nystatin because his rash got so bad.

Use Butt paste, not desitin & give him probiotics.

If he is on antibiotics he may have a yeast infection instead of diaper rash. Might want to check with the doctor.

Feed him yogurt and try gold bond medicated baby powder. They sell it at wallys

Browned “burnt” white flour!! When I started my son on baby food for the first time he had diaper rash sooo bad because his skin couldn’t handle all the extra acid in his urine and stool after no advel with desitin or a+d and letting him air dry I went to lovely Google and found and old wives remedy and his diaper rash was completely gone in 2-3days.

Vaseline helps when they pea or opposite coats the rash

Calmoseptite (spelling?) Go to any pharm and ask for it. It’s behind counter. Target has it. No script needed. Place it on thick and put powder over it to keep it on. Wipe baby with warm moist paper towel. Even sensitive wipes will hurt them

Call his Dr. They can change it that in

Mix vaseline and maylox into a paste and use works wonders!

Aquafor ~ by far the best for protection and treatment of all kinds of skin rashes ( especially diaper rash ) can also try a liquid antacid like Maalox, plaster it on with a cotton ball at every diaper change, it helps neutralize the stomach acids in the diarrhea, clean with warm wet clothes or towels, not wipes, wiped will continue to irritate the skin. I did all of the above for my kids, al work really well. PS you can put the maalox in first and coat with aquafor over it, double protection

Wrong word needs to be poops helps coat the rash

We used lotrimin af for our boys yeast rashes. Works like a charm!

When my littles get a rash I let them soak for a bit in an oatmeal bath, dry them off after but let their lower half stay naked and let the air hit it for awhile (helps alot) and then load them up with Destin every diaper change. Hope he gets better soon!

My daughter went through the exact same thing… nothing helped but
Calmoseptine Ointment! They sell it at Walmart/any drug store… it’s a bit pricey ($10 for a large tube) but I use this every time now!

Corn starch in his diaper will help with rash was my grandma’s cure

It’s a yeast infection. Monistat cream (external) that comes in the lady kits. Use it like diaper rash cream

Or athletes foot cream. .

A&D or if it’s a yeast rash your doctor can prescribe ointment for that like nystatin.

Butt paste with the Aloe Vera is what works best for my baby when she gets diaper rash

All store bought creams burn like crazy.
Except for Honest company. Hometown pharamacys can compound you a magic butt paste!
If you can’t get that then coconut oil and see your chiropractor.

Our doctor said to use water and a clean towel so wash him off, pat dry, the cover area with Vaseline. Our son got a stomach virus in 2017 and it’s the only thing that helped. BUT…CALL THE PEDIATRICIAN

Sudocrem worked for my two

Vaseline. Helps with the burning too. I’ve always used it on my grandkids (10 of them) and it has always helped them heal fast.

Look it up about going to to chiropractic. About to ear infection It’s called a adjustment. My daughter was 1 and I did that and havent had anymore problems since… go to CBS and get endit. For bed sores but works great on butt rashes

Air dry, warm bath, pat clean as much as possible instead of wiping, diaper rash cream

Boudreaux Butt Paste

Try bag balm. Walmart.

Corona udder balm
It is a miracle cream

Regular Vaseline and add a child’s probiotic packet to his bottle once a day.

Vitamin A&D cream, aloe from the plant

Go to Walgreens and buy calmaseptine. It’s only 9.99. Works wonders. I have my kids use it on their kids. Works great. Only apply a little every diaper change. Works great.

Nystatin cream my daughter had the same issue when she was on antibiotic help her prevent UTIs

Probiotic and use Tripp’s paste.

Vaseline works great for rashes

He can be allergic to the antibiotic

Most likely a diaper yeast infection…you can put antifungal cream on to resolve

Call his doctor they can prescribe a diaper cream that’s stronger than what you can buy over the counter.

Mine can’t take augmenin bc it does the same to them there allergic

Use a wash rag with water until it clears up, leave a diaper off if you can, and I usually used a mixture of bees wax with coconut oil for rashes. Mine where allergic to zinc rash cream

Bananas and yogurt will help with diarrhea and a and d ointment for the rash

I use corn starch it works wonders …

Be sure he gets Pedialyte.

Corn starch will relief the burn of the diaper rash. Very cheap what they used in the old days. With no side affects all natural

Baking soda in a warm bath also helps.

Believe it or not hemorrhoids cream.it helps the pain.Don’t knock till you get it. Dollar tree.

Us a wet soft towel to clean him with warm water, let him air dry for a while, cornstarch is good, I also caked on the desitin, hope it helps, call dr maybe he can help with something better

Oatmeal baths, dry well, pack in the desitin PASTE! The purple one.

ONLY PLACE I’VE BEEN ABLE 2 FIND IT IS AT CVS IT’S A LITTLE EXPENSIVE($12 4 A 10oz CAN) BUT SOOOOOOOOOOOO WORTH IT CAUSE A LITTLE BIT DOES GO A LONG WAY. I SUGGEST GETTIN A CAN OF. BAG BALM. IT’S FROM DA DAIRY ASSOCIATION COMPANY. IT’S A SQUARE GREEN CAN. I’LL SWEAR BY DIS PRODUCT. MY DAUGHTER HAD A DIAPER RASH SO BAD IFIN U BLEW AT IT IT WOULD BLEED. I USED DIS BALM AN SHE WAS CLEAR WIT IN JUST A FEW DAYS

My kid had a bag diaper rash when they were little and the pharmacy at the Dayton children’s hospital had a magic butt cream that worked wonderfully

Antibiotics can kill the good bacteria inside the stomach causing diarrhea. I always have to take a probiotic or eat yogurt when I am on an antibiotic

Resinol. That stuff is amazing for all sorts of things. Pricey (get at Walgreens or online) but the shit works. Grandparents used it on their kids, them on us kids and we use it for our kids

Butt paste works amazing, if it progresses call the doctor and ask for prescription strength. I know we compound it a lot at the pharmacy I work in.

Call and get a prescription diaper cream. When our kids had bad ones, they had one made that had silvadine, a&d ointment, and benzocaine, a numbing agent. Let them air out as much as possible. Baking soda. Bath will help soothe too

Calmoseptine Ointment…the best stuff I’ve ever found for diaper rash. And works quickly.

Retinol. Worked on everyone of my kids when they got diaper rash. Cleared them up in no time.

Butt paste works great!!!

Years ago when my son was little he got a bad diaper rash after having a minor surgery. I tried everything. It was then suggested through a specialist that I should try using Canesten (yes, the vaginal itch cream). He said that it was likely fungal and that’s why I couldn’t get it to clear up. He then went on to suggest that I buy Canesten foot cream as it’s exactly the same stuff that we women use, just cheaper because it was being advertised as foot cream. I bought a tube (of the foot cream) and within a day his rash started looking better. I slathered it on after every diaper change and he was good as new in no time. I highly recommend this if you’ve got a diaper rash that’s persistent and bleeding.

Nice warm bath and fresh air. Let him hangout naked as much as possible or as less clothing. Plus aquaphor is a blessing in disguise. I use it whenever my son has any kind of rash or irritation and it will heal within two days. :crossed_fingers: Hopefully you find some relief!

Ask for a nystatin (antifungal) ointment from the dr mix with a zinc oxide product (i prefer pink salve), antibacterial neosporin, and hydrocortisone 1%. This is how to make “maguc butt cream”. It is amazing!

Let him free ball it in the bathtub while you play to let him dry out a bit.

As for solids: “food before one is just for fun”, dont worry too much about that.

Always wash his butt everytime he poops…
make sure its dry after.
Air it out if possible.

I used caldesene (spelling?) Bought it, changed his diaper and by the time I got home (40 min.) It went from bleeding to just pink splotchy. Used it Everytime after and he never had another rash. USE SPARINGLY!! Doesn’t take much!
