Should 12 year olds drink energy drinks?

No because you have to be 16 to buy them, and people have had heart attacks from drinking them.

I would say no to this my older sons drink them over 18 .

Nobody should be drinking them :tipping_hand_woman:t4:

Nope :-1:t3: you have to be 16 to buy them as they are dangerous to kids

Hell no! Energy drinks are not good for you as an adult so drinking it before you’re fully grown is bad. Plus to become dependent on a drink to keep you up and awake is not good either imho

No one should drink energy drinks. They can cause strokes and heart attacks blood pressure problems…… Try going to bed and sleeping so you are rested and good healthy food to get energy.

I drank them at 12 years old … my mom hated it but if I had money of my own I’d buy and drink only one per day. That was the only rule …

Nope, if you read the fine print on the back of most of them say 18+. They are so bad for adults but especially kids whom are still developing and growing. I know a kid from a different school in high school that drank them a lot (he was like 16 I believe at the time.) that had to receive several blood transfusions and has permanent kidney damage or something like that.

No. I’d let my kid have coffee though

My daughter drink them at 14 I try to limit them

Absolutely not, I drank Monster mucho loco at most twice a week the severe kidney pains I got felt like my back was breaking. I am off energy drinks forever sometimes I felt so shaky I had to sit down thought I’m gonna die and I’m 36 can you imagine a child of 12 it also gives you a (vergrootte hart) sorry don’t know what you call it in English a guy I know died of energy drinks because his heart became to big. So I will say absolutely don’t let your kids drink it.

No. No. No.

Stimulants that damage the heart. I’m of the opinion that no one should drink energy drinks for the health of our hearts, liver, kidneys.

I let my 12 in a half year old drink them but of course I don’t let her drink them very often I don’t think a few here and there isn’t bad.

No I don’t think so… I myself cannot drink them, it makes my heart race to fast

Some of these comments are crazy. Most ppl who have heart issues had them way before ever drinking these . My teens drink them once in a blue mood . Dr said it’s fine there’s lots of sugar in them . No different than drinking caffeinated drinks. I have a heart condition perfectly fine when I drink monsters . They are not addicting :joy::joy: moderation ppl

My daughter is 13 and she drinks monsters and coffee. Well it depends on the mom if she let her kids drink them

My children are are legal adults now and I won’t allow energy drinks in my home. I can’t control what they do when they are gone but they respect my wishes when they are home. Energy drinks are extremely unhealthy!

They can lead.to heart disease especially, if combined with cigarette smoking and combine all.this with another host of health problems like hypertension and you could end up being a walking dead man. Unfortunately, my cousin died from all three. He was only 45.

Nope. There are plenty of people who drink them every day having health issues from them. The only one my doctor advised me on that I could do are the 5 hour energy ones because they are filled with primarily B vitamins. And only half at a time. She was using it in conjunction with my thyroid meds to boost my metabolism a bit faster.

No… it’s not good. I won’t allow my teens drink them. They are addicting too… I know I’m trying to quit them.

Absolutely not. They really don’t need the extra caffeine , and don’t realize how harmful it can be.

No! Even adults should not be drinking these!

Not good for children children should have energy if they r healthy

No! My 7yr old granddaughter came home last summer from visitation with her dad who drinks these things continuously. She had heart episode and ended up with all kinds of tests. The specialists said it was from the energy drinks her dad gave her. He keeps NOTHING for the girls. He will not listen.

I don’t like them and think that they are very unhealthy, however, I do let my 13 yo have one every now and then… not very often though

My kids wouldn’t drink energy drinks at any age if I knew it! They are dangerous, and I tell my teenage grandsons this all the time.

What?! No! It’s addictive and can lead to heart issues.

No energy drinks but I do let my 13 year old drink iced coffee. She makes at home or every once in awhile gets Starbucks.

In my opinion, No. I never allowed my kids to have them.

No way. They’re not even good for adults.

My 13 year old gets one every once in awhile. She likes the flavor of a few, but for the most part it’s Gatorade or water.

I once had a heart surgeon tell me he had just operated on a 20 year old male whose heart valves were blown out from drinking 2 to 3 a day. And if you all have told your kids no, they’re still drinking them. They’re just doing it behind your back. I promise you. Ask your kids if they have EVER had one. Ill bet the answer is yes.

Absolutely not!!! They should have to be at least 16, if not 18. They are very addictive!

Read the labels and you will see why no one should be drinking them. Let them drink coffee to wake up…kids should be drinking water or gatorade.

The only energy drink a child needs is water

FYI if you are someone who drinks alot of them, they can alter a drug or alcohol test to make it look positive

I don’t understand. Explain why a 12-year-old needs an energy drink?

No one should drink energy drinks they are so bad for you.

Just no, they are not for kids/teens.They are addicting and not good for anyone. Ive heard grown people speak of having chest problems or an irregular heart beat after drinking them. Kids/teens dont fully understand the risks. If they drink one whats to stop them from drinking another one, why not another and another. Id maybe take them to the dr to see why they are so tired. I think at best an occasional frap would be ok. And i mean occasionally. Once a month or so. If they choose to drink energy drinks or strong coffee at 18 years old, thats there adult decision.

No. They have enough energy with out the over stimulation and addictive quality

even older people shouldn’t drink them

I personally wouldn’t give it to a 12 year old. I didn’t have my first energy drink till I was 18. I only tried one because I just had my son 2 months prior and was still in high school and was so tired and I couldn’t focus so I bought one and it kept me awake the rest of the day. I drink one occasionally. But havent had one in 4 months

Not at all my stepson who is 35 ended up in hospital last year his heart was racing to fast and that was because of energy drinks he didn’t drink many, I always tell my kids about not drinking them

Nope. My 17 year old had has been begging for years to try them. He has hypothyroidism and even on his medications he is exhausted 16-18 hours out of the day. Then I found out he was using his debit card at school to buy them with his lunch money so he could stay awake in school. I took his debit card away and talked with his doctor. His doctor approved only one…it is called Celsius. So that is the only one he is allowed.

Enerfy drinks are not drinks, energy drinks like Gatorade are made to replace electrolytes from fluid loss like high activity sports or something like stomach flue. So they should be taken to replenish fluids under those conditions.

IMO… No. Their growing minds and bodies don’t need stimulants at all… let alone what’s in energy drinks. Kids come with plenty of energy… even teens. Its seems to be more about the alure of the pretty can and hype than anything.

My oldest, 13, is obsessed with trying them. I work midnights and usually have one on hand just incase because I really don’t sleep as much as I should and he sips mine. He never ever has his own. They’re too young and don’t need them

My daughters 13 and I let her drink them on occasion. Not everyday do I personally don’t see anything wrong with.

If a 12 year old needs energy drinks, he’s not active enough

They don’t need them they should be full of energy at this age

Never they shouldn’t be sold to anyone under 18… They can be highly addictive. And cause heart problems.

No. I have adult friends that are addicted to red bull.Every time I see one he has a can of that crap in his hand.

Unless you’re looking for a heart attack, no one should drink them.

I’d substitute it for Starbucks it’s just as exciting and they have lots of options with little or no caffeine. I like that strawberry cream frap, 2 scoops of vanilla powder, 2 pumps white mocha, 1 pump toffee nut, strawberry puree, strawberry drizzle, and crunchies😉

I would say “no”. The granddaughter of a friend of mine was hospitalized because of energy drinks.

I had 2 freinds have heart attacks in there 20 because they drank energy drinks since 13 one a day or every other day thats what docs told them

I had a friend in his 30’s die from drinking too many

Be careful because they both have a lot of caffeine which too much has caused heart attack???

When we were over seas, we had someone come out and educate us about them. They are not good. Heart problems later in life, dehydration, liver problems, and many more problems.

No…iam fifty and I have never tried energy drinks

Apart from the heart issues -
THEY DESTROY YOUR TEETH!!!
Our 27year old son won’t smile properly for fear of revealing his discoloured teeth, and has already had extractions and expensive treatment.

My sons friend lives across the street and nearly gave himself a heart attack drinking these daily, two or more apparently

No way I hate my boys drinking them and they are 18 and 20

These are absolutely banned in my home… even when my adults were younger. I have 5 kids that are never to drink them because of the heart issues they cause. I have them drinking water more than any other drink.

No definitely not. Not even adults should drink them .

No, just
like kids have traditionally not been allowed to drink coffee, same principle.

They aren’t good for adults much less children.

Nope. My son knows that my rule is no energy drinks until you are at least 18 and no longer living in my house. That way I am not legally responsible if something happens.

I say no to energy drinks. They have too much caffeine

No, it contains way too much caffeine.

Nope. I don’t allow any of mine even my 15 year old.

No ! In my opinion they are not healthy for anyone, especially a growing child !

My son (12) is allowed one can a month and his peer pressure seems to be satisfied with that.

As a kid, they should already have energy, and so, no. They shouldn’t.

Nobody should drink energy drinks when the energy comes from caffeine instead of nutrition.

Considering my 9 year old hasn’t ever drunk a fizzy drink… No.

No! Why the hell does a 12 year old need an energy drink??

What do they need energy for? They don’t need energy

They need more energy at that age ???

They get addicted to them it’s not good for them at all

No. I didn’t allow mine to when he was 12

No they have enough energy without the help of the drinks.

No one should drink energy drinks full stop

Grownups shouldn’t even be drinking those.

NO! There is even a warning on the back of the can :rage:

I’m 61and have only had two or three in my life and have no desire to drink them,to me they are nasty

No way and why would they need them?

No!! I learned from experience. They cause kidney stones. No child needs that kind of pain!! I was drinking 3-4 a day of Rockstar. Had one ER visit for tachycardia
