Mine were both about a month old as they weren’t getting enough milk either way bottle or Brest so I started them on watered down farxes in a bottle and then from a bowl a bit thicker when they were two months then custards and soft bottle baby food never hurt them if they are looking for food just test them with little things at a time then more if they are still looking both my boys a big strong men now
Son is 3 years now… we started purees at 4 months then around 6 months went more of a blw route
Both my boys started solids at 3 months. You know as there mum when they’re ready. Ain’t no doctor gonna tell me when to start feeding my kids solids. And also to the person who commented about kids can develop allergies if they start solids early, that it utter bullshit. Both my boys are healthy and happy and strong.
6 months old due to the research of food allergies, I have 6 boys, eldest 16 youngest 4….no allergies
6 months and when she could site upright unassisted is the recommendation, so that’s what we went with
My daughter started at 3m and my son around the same time but not really until 6m. (He was less interested)
My daughter is 6 months today and she had strawberries for the first time. The silicone feeders are a life saver.
I started baby-led weaning at 6 months. My son had already met all signs of readiness by 6 months (lost the extrusion reflex; good head/neck/trunk control; showed interest in food), but I waited until 6 months per most current recommendations.
I started feeding my son baby food at 4 months now that he’s 9 months I feed him whatever we eat
Generally when they are sitting up on their own and when the tongue thrust reflex has went away.
All of mine started around 3 to 4 months. As soon as they showed interest
I started my daughter at 4 months cause she was interested in food… her dr told me it was fine and to feed her anything and everything including foods most kids develope allergies too
When I had my first son it was 4 months and then they switched it to 6 months. I think it really depends on the baby. My now 6 month old just started baby food but his doctor told me at four months that it’s up to me if I wanted to start giving him baby food. I would have started him earlier but he wasn’t showing any signs of being ready. Sounds like your baby may be ready and curious so it wouldn’t hurt to introduce your baby to baby food and see how your baby does with it.
6 months with both my kids
Start now ! She’s hungry and smart enough to know you’re eating food !
Pureed foods when they acted like they wanted it. I used to blend the foods, put them in ice trays, and freeze, then put in baggies, that was their “baby food”. I made sure there were no preservatives and no food colors or sugar
Listen to your dr there are to many problems that arise from starting to early. 6-9mths is the usual time and blw is great.
3 months i just gave 1 te spoon a day intill i see she wanted more
The standard recommendation is 6 months and showing all signs of readiness. Please join a reputable group like Baby Led Weaning for Beginners & Beyond (BLWBB) for excellent advice and suggestions but you should usually follow the advice of your pediatrician.
Started at 4 months with rice pablum then at 6 months started introducing one new fruit per week to rule out allergies then continued with one new vegetable a week you can add oatmeal pablum etc then at 1 year introduced egg yolk then peanut butter
I do blw so 6 months as long as they’re showing all signs of readiness. No purées here
I started once they showed interest. Your baby is ready.
6 months and able to sit independently
I started baby oatmeal at 4 months with all 3 of my Littles, my doctor advised me and told me it was safe. I didn’t give it everyday because I exclusively breastfed and that extra milk was hard to come by but once I felt they did good with oatmeal I introduced baby food purees then worked our way into baby led weening
My doctor recommended 6 months so we waited till then. Each doctor is different and I think it depends where your child falls with weight, satisfaction with milk, etc. some kids breast milk/formula doesn’t keep them full long enough so they advise to start solids early. I personally would follow your doctors lead but make sure the doctor knows you feel they are interested and maybe ready to try some basic first foods!
I started my daughter at 4 months
I started feeding mine at a month old. Just a little plain cereal and 3 months I started baby food. I did it with all mine…
I don’t see anything wrong with as long as the baby doesn’t have side effects to any of the foods. But every parent is different in how they parent their child.
I’m old school, if the baby is hungry feed it. Only the parents csn decide when to start their baby on food.
6 months with both of mine. I’d strongly listen to the doctor
All babies are different. I breast feed for a year
Our daughter was eating eggs, peanut butter , garlic , pasta ribs at 3 months. Whatever we ate she ate.
Once they can have good neck control (usually around 6 months) my daughter also showed interest early and could hold her head perfectly, but I did still wait until 6 months
So with ur 9 year old u started a 4 months I understand, my oldest which is 10 I started at 4 months……
My youngest is 3 years old. My doctor told me to wait till he was 6 months. But he showed interest like ur little did. Girl go ahead and give ur youngest some “yum yums “. Trust ur heart….
Ur 9 year old is perfectly fine do what u feel is right momma…… u got this
I think it’s up to you! My kids are grown now, but I started my son at 4mos on rice… his Dr didn’t like it but he was hungry! My daughter was a little older when I started her… but it’s when they are ready! Just start slow and introduce new things slowly
6 months and avoid rice cereal, there’s no nutrition in it
My oldest 4 months fed him baby food to start. With my youngest at 6 months. He did baby led weaning
Most people and doctors will tell you six months because that’s what’s recommended. But I think mom’s know their babies best and if she’s hungry and wants it feed it to her my son was 3 months and my daughter was a few days before 4 months (he was a ham, she’s very small)
6 months with all signs of readiness.
I waited for them to be able to sit up supported in a chair. To refuse possible choking chances. I started on soft foods and just worked our way up. Just be sure to monitor.
All four of my children I started at 2 months. With the sweet fruits. An by three months sweet potatoes they all did so well. Never a problem
With my 23 month old the doctor told me to start at 4 months, now they are saying 6 months again lol
Depends on the kid. Mouth movement and motor reflexes.
I’ve had six kids and they were all different in regards to what and when. The second one had to have cereal almost right away it seemed. The 4th one is the only one that actually liked Baby food. I had two that didn’t ever eat Baby food. And the oldest wanted real milk instead of formula by one. The baby wants what your eating. She’s one Tomorow. We’ll see with the one I’m due with next month . Start small and go from there.
Just be glad you don’t have toddlers helping. Lol.
4 months with my first. I tried 4 months with my second but he wasn’t ready till 6 months
“Food before one is just for fun” so the saying goes… it’s more than just for fun, but more like exploring and learning. Primary source of food should still be breastmilk (or artificial formula). 6 months really is the earliest to start exploring based on gut readiness and coordination.
If she’s interested in food, then she’s ready
Both my kids got baby oatmeal at 4 months as suggested by the doctor, nutritionist and WIC counselor.
My son had colic so by like one month in it was cereal in the formula to thicken it up. Started on spagettios by 3 months 6 months regular foods all together.
Depends on the dr honestly some say 6 months some say 4 months all babies are different my sisters in laws had a baby born with 9 teeth so shes now 3 months and eating soft solids cuz she was interested and is fine my son was 6 months my daughter was 3 months and my newest was 4 months its what you feel is right your baby
Both of my babies were 4 months. They both showed signs they were ready by looking at my food constantly and mimicking chewing when I would eat. Started them both a small small amount of rice cereal or fruit puree and went from there x
All 3 of my children started at 3 months on purees an mash veg
My one and only son I started jar food at 3 months old because he was drinking 8 oz every 3 hours… at 4 months old I made my own baby food at a thicker consistency, by 5 months old he was on table food, my dr looked at me like I was crazy but I’m sorry they do not live with my child , he was a hungry little boy . Also they don’t need teeth for food, he was on table food at 5 months , they gum it pretty well. I now have a happy and healthy 5 year old . Waiting too late for food can eventually cause texture issues such as gagging while eating because they’re not used to the food texture ect … but if they’re drinking 8 oz and holding their head up, they’re ready for food
6 months, it’s what is best for their stomachs.
I’m started my baby on actual food around 5 just because she didn’t like any of the baby food whatsoever. And not not mention their gums are so hard. She is 7 months old and she eats what we eat
Listen to your doctor
My all 3 started rice cereal at 3 months. My oldest started purees at 6 months My twins at 4 months.
I started giving our 2 year old soft fits like mashed potatoes and mashed bananas at 4 months but she didn’t start really eating good food till about 6-8 months. But puréed stuff she’d rest starting at 4 months-ish
All I see is bad advice everywhere. It’s making me cringe.
Pediatrician recommended: 4 months old. But you can do 6 months old if you think they aren’t ready. The whole gut theory has been long debunked. Their stomachs CAN and WILL handle purées if you start them when they are interested at 4 months. My daughter did with no issues. Any mom who judges others and says their stomach can’t handle it haven’t seen the latest research and can be grouped in with the other group of mom shamers. You know what’s right for your child and you should do it!
4 months except for my son. Doctor recommended we start him at 2 months but only rice cereal.
You are the mom, you know your baby the best so do it when you feel like it/comfortable with it
Do what you feel is best. We started our oldest at 4 months. By 8 months he was on table food. Im hoping our youngest is the same!
My daughter was 4 months. I couldn’t have stopped her lol
6 months is when their gut is ready for food. It can’t properly digest before then and can lead to stomach issues.
My oldest I started at 3 months with baby cereal and baby food by 4 months, she was eating regular food by 6 months…my youngest started baby cereal at 3 months and never got baby food, the pediatrician said to give her regular food at 4 months…both are now 19 and 5, healthy and good eaters…you know your child best!
Do NOT give babies food too early. They only need breastmilk or formula until 1 year nutritionally, and NO that does not vary from child to child unless there are extreme health issues of some sort. Babies do not develop the digestive enzymes needed to properly digest anything but breatsmilk or formula until at least 6 months, and introducing food earlier than that can cause damage to the intestines, sometimes irreversible damage. Interest in food is normal, but not indication their body is physically ready to eat.
Our pediatrician told us four months so that’s what we did. One new food every two weeks so you can figure out what they might have an allergy to
Please go with what your Dr. said.
Mine was 6 or 7 months but he had surgery on his stomach so couldn’t tolerate it. 9 or 10 months before he could tolerate stage 3 baby food
My 2 year old started on stage 1 puree baby food at 3 months. She has been on full table food since she turned 1.
I did 4 months with both of mine
I did 5 months (I was gonna wait until 6 months) but he was eating.so.dang.much. like every hour on the dot didn’t matter when he finished if he started at 6:15 and ended at like idk 7 he will eat again at 7:15.
Mine were about 6 to 7 months
4 months, they are both health children. If you baby wants good give it to her xx
At 4 months my baby started Rice cereal. Then at six months veggies
I started my son at 4 months as he was interested and my daughter started her guy at 6 to 7 months and she struggled to get him interested in food. He is almost 4 now and she still has a hard time feeding him cuz he still sucks a bottle with whole milk lol so he wants a bottle over food. My son just turned 3 and he has no issues with eating nor is he on a bottle.
My first son, we started at 4 months and my second son (who I had back in January) started at 5 months. I am a strong believer of starting foods as early as possible as studies show, the earlier the introduction of foods means that child is less likely to develop an allergy to those foods. Your baby will also tell you when they’re ready! If she’s interested, get her some stage 1 baby foods and cereals and let her try it! I go by the 3 day rule, introduce a new food and have them on that for 3 days before introducing another new food. This helps to make sure you know exactly what’s causing a reaction if there is one!
I also recommend early allergen introduction systems, like Ready. Set. Food!, which allows me to introduce all of the main allergens without actually having to try to feed my son those foods every day. Makes it soooo much easier
We started at 6 months with my first but she wasnt very interested but my second he would steal our food off our plates at 4 months and shove it in his mouth choking or not
My daughter started at 4 months because i ddnt know better my she is know 12 healthy and extremely smart she was breath feeding where my son started at exactly 6 months he was on bottle feed his also healthy and strong his five he eats well it is Said to start them at sick because their bodies and organs are ready for it but each mummy knows what’s best for their little ones
We started baby food, (1st foods supported sitter) at 4 months old, started rice/cereal around 3 month months for acid reflux. Do whatever you feel is best for your little babe, as long as they are still taking in their daily nutrients regularly still through their formula I see no harm in giving your little one a couple bites of something good. Now at 8 months old, my chunky boy eats anything and everything.
There is a natural reflex to push food out of their mouth with their tongue. If you give them a bite and they push it out, then it’s too early. That reflex goes away when they’re ready for baby food.
My pediatrician just gave me the go ahead to start now and she is 4mths. She said as long as she has great head control and can hold her self up while sitting assisted, go ahead. I started her with cereal and just introduced carrots and she has caught in real quick with recognizing the spoon and opening her mouth. Doctor said to just introduce a new food every three days.
I started my son on real food at 6 months. Pureed food is not something I feel is needed but I’ll do fruits and veggies. My daughter is 4 months and getting fruits right now. 1.5 months, she’ll start eating what we eat. Cut appropriately. And not in tiny pieces which is a choking hazard. People don’t realize a baby’s gag reflex is way further up on their tongue which is why you want to start them sooner than 9 months on real food. That’s when it starts getting further back. Cut everything in finger length strips
Usually start with a spoon
My grandson started with baby food then at 9 months started table food . he does amazing with it.
Just start small and work your way up .
Hes now 11 months and eats all table food
I say every kid is different. Try a few soft things and see how it goes. Mommas know more than they give credit for. Girl mature faster than boys. Jus my thoughts!
Skip baby food and try baby lead weaning… they say u should wait till 6months for anything that’s not milk but most don’t follow that rule. Baby lead weaning u jus feed them whatver your eating…my kids were eating steak at 6 months no teeth.
You wouldn’t believe me,but my kids had what we called pablem, flour, milk and sugar cooked smooth when they were a month old,and whole milk instead of formula by 3 months, but that was 45 yrs ago
Most pediatricians recommend 4 months, BUT they are not required to stay up to date on infant nutrition, so PLEASE wait until baby is at least 6 months old. Their tiny little gut can stay open until then and cause issues later in life. We did Baby Led Weaning at 6 months and fell in love. We’ll be doing it again with our next one.
With my first I started at 4 months with oatmeal and rice and probably a month later introduced vegetables. Once he had a taste for all those I introduced fruit. I also breastfed so I really wasn’t too worried about the food but wanted him to get a taste for it. He kind of became less interested in the milk at like 11 months so I started with small pieces of whatever I ate. My daughter wanted no parts of any type of baby food. At 4/5 months she was eating small pieces of avocado and vegetables along with breastfeeding. Every baby is different so try it but don’t force it. Do what is best and feels right.
As soon as my kids had teeth, which was VERY early
You might want to look into baby lead feeding. They skip baby food and go straight to food.
New studies have shown that feeding too early can cause digestive issues later in life. Their guts aren’t mature enough to break down solids yet. That’s most likely the reason why she advised against it.
We started introducing baby cereal and baby oatmeal at 3 months with my first then regular baby food at around 4 months with my second we started 4 months with baby cereals and baby oatmeal’s at 4 months and around 5 months we started baby foods but she was a premie and had really bad reflux problems which is why we held off a little
My son started just shy of 5 months and my daughter started at 4m. My docs said if they are able to hold their head and are showing interest you can try. Each baby is different.
My kids were eating solids mixed in a mini blender at 4 months. They are happy and healthy. You’re mom. Do what you want.
41/2 months.1st bottle was always formula. Started with rice cereal 2 teaspoons and 4 oz. formula before nap time. Did this a couple days then started cereal at night about 7ish. Slept all night till about 6ish am. About 5 months old did applesauce mixed in cereal bottle 2 teaspoons. 1 food at a time. That way if they have a rash you can maybe know what caused it. Babies need their formula as much as possible. They also had water during the day. An ounce here and there. They loved it. Mine never laid back with a bottle. Never went to bed with a bottle.
Every baby is different. I started week cereal around 3 months
My 4 month old took the banana out of my hand and ate it. Thats when I knew it was time.
I would puree fruits and vegetables my mom will do it with chickens and slowly introduce different things. Slowly but surely is when the texture starts changing
