This was me and my now husband.
My neighbour approached me and asked us to keep it down. Which we then did after, cause I didn’t realize and totally respected the people in the apartments.
But then a few days later - the landlord then sort of kindly asked me if I would move out… and return my deposit and depending how fast I moved (he gave me a month, the rest of money back - which he did. I don’t know if I HAD to move but I didn’t want to cause problems and I ended up renting a full house afterwards so it worked out.
But what I’m saying is - definitely just go knock and kindly explain the situation.
I laughed and apologized and was so embarrassed and almost never made a peep after that even know I only stayed for a couple days after that.
A lot of people would understand !

Complain to the supervisor ( land lord) about the noise and you have children. Let the apartment management handle it.

I would leave a note on there door. If that didn’t work speak to the landlord. But if that didn’t work u would have to call and report it as disturbance.

I’d think you were my neighbor but they only have 2 kids.
Only thing I can think is either they don’t realize they’re that loud or they don’t care.
If you have to say something do it indirectly… cross them in the hall strike up convo mention how thin walls are casually. If they donr know they’ll take the hint.

As an apartment dweller myself, I try to be respectful of my neighbors. I would be beyond mad if one of my grandbabies heard lovemaking coming from next door!

THEY are the ones that need to move! Why should everyone else (especially young children) be made to feel uncomfortable so they can "get it on??!!

I went through this before and I would start banging on my walls and sure as poop it stoped. Lol
I had neighbors like that, we would cheer them on, loudly they eventually got quieter. Sad part they were on the 3rd floor we were on the first.

Anywho I would just leave them a note and if that don’t help matters do a noise complaint.
Guarantee your 5 kids aren’t quiet little church mice so if you say anything, be prepared for them to file multiple complaints against you. Turn up the TV or turn on some music or something. Or take your kids outside for a bit

had neighbors like that to apoint in an apt also walls and floors paper thin . now i have neighbors all they do is fight all day and night round round 1 residents got evicted round2 just moved in same apt.

Been there. We had neighbors near Boston who shook the house. I’d wake up truly thinking there was an earthquake (former West Coast resident here). It didn’t happen often and they were rarely home so we never said anything, but if it had been more frequent, we would’ve had to.
From experience the only thing that worked for our EXTREMELY loud neighbours was when we were having a party and could hear them over everyone and the music still so we made it completely silent then all collectively made obnoxious exaggerated porn sounds right next to the wall. Completely c*ckblocked and kept it relatively quiet from then onwards!

Get rid of the kids for the night. Have sex as loud as you can to annoy them so they’ll get the picture. I mean all up against the wall. Bumping and thumping. Have fun!!!

I ran into this issue. We are in an apartment, walls paper thin, whole place shakes when the upstairs people go at it. It got so bad that I knocked on the door mid-hump. Hubby was embarrassed by me saying something but I hated being home because upstairs was going at it constantly . 3 conversations later , still didn’t matter. I became petty and would start the vacuum at random hours. Didn’t matter. I would bang on thr ceiling and walls when pictures would fall off the walls. Still didn’t matter. They eventually moved.

I’d leave a note on the door and just let them know they can be heard. They may not be aware of it. Be nice about it and just ask if they can please tone it down a little, the kids are asking questions. If that doesn’t work then talk to management.

Honestly if my neighbors could hear me I’d want to know. That’s embarrassing. Maybe slip a note in and tell them that you’re not complaining just giving them the heads up.

Everytime they get “loud”, go to your wall closest to where they are, and knock real loud and yell “we can hear you”. If they continue, knock again, and yell “my kids want to know if we need to call an ambulance”.
If it continues, call the landlord & let them know what’s going on. If the landlord can’t do anything about it, call the cops. They are, after all, disturbing the peace… just as anybody else would be if they were fighting loudly, or playing loud music, etc.
If they want to be that loud, they need to invest in soundproofing their apartment, or they need to move to a more appropriate neighborhood where their noise doesn’t bother neighbors.

So my husband and I had this issue when we lived in a shared wall apmnt…
We decided instead of saying something, we would go at it when ever they did, and made sure we were louder:rofl:…they eventually got the hint after the first WK…never had a noise issue again and continued to be peaceful neighbors for the next 3 yrs.

Your husband is right, they aren’t doing anything wrong in their own home except enjoying themselves ( horrible isn’t it) they aren’t going to be quiet because you want them to. If your kids are young they won’t know what they are hearing, they will think it’s animal noises, your the one making a huge deal out of nothing.

Had the same problem. Reported them to owners and they talked with them. Daughter had no respect for no one and finally they were ask to leave. Shame Apartment owners don’t build them with more sound proofing but usually built very cheap.

If they are doing it that often it’s just a matter of time till they have kids. Then they won’t have time for sex. All you’ll hear is a baby crying and two people arguing about whos turn it is to get up and change the baby. If you have 5 I know you can relate.

Turn on music or tv on loud so you can’t hear it. You can’t control what others do in their home. If someone came to my house and said they can hear me then they’ll hear me when I shut the door in their face.
